Travel Tips for Indian Tourists: A Perfect Trip to Phu Quoc

1. Phu Quoc weather

The ideal time to visit Pearl Island is from around November to April. This is the dry season in the south, with less rain, calm seas, gentle waves, and warm sun suitable for outdoor activities. This season is perfect for resort vacations but not recommended for backpackers or adventurers.

From around May to October is the rainy season, and there may be storms, but Phu Quoc still attracts many tourists during this time due to the summer break. If you plan to visit Phu Quoc during this season, it’s best to go in late April when the crowds are not yet too large, the weather is still beautiful, and the prices are not too high as during peak season. October is also a good time to visit as it is the transitional season with less rain.

2. How to get to Phu Quoc from India

To reach Phu Quoc Island from India, visitors can take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi in Vietnam, and then take a domestic flight to Phu Quoc Island. There are several airlines that operate flights from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to Phu Quoc Island, such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Jetstar Pacific. Besides that, there are also non-stop flights connecting big cities in India with Phu Quoc Island. However, you may need to check on them as they are not scheduled on a regular basis.

Another option is to take a bus or taxi from Ho Chi Minh City to Rach Gia or Ha Tien, which are coastal cities in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, and then take a ferry to Phu Quoc Island. The ferry ride takes about 2-3 hours and operates daily from early morning to late afternoon.

3. Accommodation

Phu Quoc Island offers a wide range of accommodations, catering to all budgets and preferences, making it an ideal destination for Indian tourists. From affordable guesthouses to luxurious international resorts, there’s something for everyone.

For those seeking budget-friendly options, homestays are a great choice. Families or groups traveling together might prefer hotels in Duong Dong town, which are conveniently located for sightseeing and shopping. Popular 5-star resorts like Saigon Phu Quoc Resort and Eden Resort typically charge upwards of 1,500,000 VND per night, while 3-4 star hotels range from 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 VND. Budget 2-star options like Gold Hotel, Lavita Hotel, and Sea Star Resort offer rooms for around 600,000 to 800,000 VND.

Unlike Nha Trang, where beaches are easily accessible from main roads, Phu Quoc requires some travel to reach its beaches. For a more peaceful and relaxing stay, consider resorts, villas, or bungalows near the beach. Room rates for beachside properties typically range from 1,800,000 to 7,000,000 VND per night.

In the northern part of the island, you’ll find upscale resorts like Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort, Nam Nghi Coral Peninsula Phu Quoc, and Fusion Resort Phu Quoc. The eastern part features Rocks Beach Boutique Phu Quoc, a charming “mini Maldives,” which opened in early 2022 in Ham Ninh commune.

Between the northern part and Duong Dong town, options include Movenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc and Mango Bay Resort. In Duong Dong town, popular choices are Lahana Resort, L’Azure Resort & Spa, Anja Beach Resort, Pullman Phu Quoc, and InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort. For a luxury experience, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay is located on Khem Beach, and Premier Village Phu Quoc is a top option in the southern part of the island.
